Not as pretty as I WANTED to be sitting... but bordering on "comfortable" for now.
Just so long as I only use .22 for teaching and none for plinking (for *myself*). It should get me through July if I only use 1k a month. I don't know what I'll do after that, since I got wind that .22LR will be scarce into 2015. I hope the company reps are wrong... but I really don't know.

Public Service Announcement (and a personal request)
When shopping at your local purveyor of firearms, feel free to browse as long as you like.
Feel free to take products off the shelves to compare one to another...if you don't want either, feel free to bring them to the counter and the staff will re-shelve them for your convenience.
Feel free to handle as many firearms as you feel like. We know "fit" is a big part of the purchasing decision.
Feel free to ask many questions or engage in conversation about dang near anything.
HOWEVER... Please do NOT lean over the counter to sniff the employees. Really... it's just bad form. Don't do it.

O'Reilly is WRONG
You can not purchase a Class III firearm without paperwork.
He's wrong, and arrogant about it.
Trust me, if there was no tax stamp and subsequent waiving of any warrant-searches, I'd be the first one in line for a full auto, a suppressor, and an SBR shotgun!!
Here's the fail, see for yourself;

Creepy Guy.
A man in his mid-twenties came into the shop tonight. He did very strange things and made extremely ominous comments...
My co-worker, another customer, and I ALL thought the guy was looking for a way to surreptitiously load a store gun and start firing at anyone/everyone. First time I have ever felt unsafe to that extent there. My heart was racing, I was borderline nauseous and sweating...because if the situation escalated, I knew what was going to happen...and I knew being the only one there carrying, I would be the one to stop it.
I'm so glad it didn't.

Deja Vu
That feeling that "I've done this exact thing before in this exact way"... everybody gets it. You know, even if you've switched off a light or opened a door a zillion times, there's that one odd time that you'll have that "I've done this before" feeling.
Happened to me just a little bit ago...with one weird difference.
It wasn't just a feeling like I'd done something before. This time, I actually remembered dreaming it. YEARS ago. Like...two houses ago. I remember waking up from a dream of doing the exact same deja vu thing in *this* house. I remember thinking, "yeah, right...I'd never have that kind of furniture and all those Indian knick knacks."
I'm telling you...I had that odd deja vu feeling and looked up from what I was doing...straight at all my Indian knick knacks.
I feel really ooky.

Bullet Diameter Can Bite Your Butt.
Took the new batch of reloads to the range Saturday and they wouldn’t let the Rock go full battery.
At first I was sweating it because I thought I’d done something wrong when making them, but I followed my previous notes to the letter…so I didn’t know what it could be!
Then we tested them by sending them through Jay’s mag in his Kimber. They were fine.
Then my mag in Jay’s gun…still fine.
They also fed through my own Kimber in function check without a hitch.
We took them back to his house and pulled out the calipers and micrometer.
Using the barrel as a gauge, we discovered that the cases would not even seat, because the bullet was too big.
The ones that flew through just fine were .451.
The ones that would not let it go to full battery were .452.
It’s chambered really tight.
Pics:
A reload with a .451 bullet seated, using the barrel as a gauge;

A reload with a .452 bullet…not even close;

*UPDATE*
Sent the barrel to Armscor Precision Advanced Tactical (RIA) and they rechambered it not-so-tightly.
It eats everything like a champ now, just like the Kimber.
Great customer service, excellent communication, and FAST turn around time...
11 days total from the mail drop to having it back in my hands.

Lord of the flies (and bees and rats...)
Freaky. There's no other word for it.
Apparently, Obama attracts insects and rodents like no other.
Bees swarm him. Flies are swarming him. And don't forget the rats he attracts (not just the politician types).
He's some kind of Pied Piper of pestilence or something...and I fricken love it.
Hey. It's entertainment, OK? It keeps boredom away.
Anyhow...here's the "pics or it never happened" drill:
The rat that ran to the podium and stayed there crisscrossing a few times:

Bees swarming when he was leaving to play some ball instead of doing the church thing;

And the fly that kept circling his head and landing on his face:

Word from the White House is that the place is thoroughly infested and it's irritating the crap out of all the people working there. Obama has been chasing after flies with his briefing papers to swat them.
Guess he's given up on the bare hand trick from last year...

Mkay.
You know how you're not supposed to park close to a fire hydrant because you might block access?
Today, I saw a hydrant at the edge of a Wendy's parking lot...
with TWO spaces marked off as places to park. Right in front of it.
On the other side of it, there was a stretch of about 50 feet or more of grassy ditch and then 70mph interstate.
Huh.
Couldn't figure that one out...

The way our government trains people
If the vid on this page doesn't load for you, basically it's a woman with 15 kids (12 still in her charge).
Her "fiance" (the father of 10 of them) is in jail on coke charges. She blames social services for her problems because "the system failed to take care of her" (even though her rent and utilities were being paid by other organizations and food/clothes were donated from all around her community)...
and at the 2:18 time stamp she says - "Somebody needs to pay...for ALL MY CHILDREN. For my, and their, all our suffering and all our pain. Somebody needs to be held accountable...and they need to PAY."

Obama gets a black belt ...I'm not even kidding.

Most people study Tae Kwon Do for years...YEARS...before getting a black belt in that martial art. The O just has to show up. First the Nobel, then this...what's next? Congressional Medal of Honor?

From Malkin re: Obama's Reaction to Fort Hood
Nobody said it better...and I sure can't.
EDITED to Add the UNsanitized for news version(where they cut out the first few minutes). Thanks for the prompting, Road Warrior!
On Thursday, 11 soldiers and civilian police at Fort Hood were slaughtered execution-style at close range and over 30 others wounded, allegedly by a U.S. Army Major Malik Nadal Hasan. The President immediately addressed the nation concerning this horrific event.
However, his expression of grief was very odd. He spent the first two minutes of the four-and-a-half minute address in a light-hearted discussion of his earlier “Tribal Nations Conference” on Native American rights, including a “shout out” recognition of a conference attendee.
When he finally got around to the purpose for his public appearance, he gave an uninspired and rambling dissertation on the tragedy. Even then, he could not keep the topic focused on sympathy for the pain of others:
"I want all of you to know that as Commander in Chief, that there’s no greater honor, but no greater responsibility for me (emphasis his) than to make sure that the extraordinary men and women in uniform are properly cared for…"
Poor soul, it’s so saddening to know how this tragedy affects him. Listening to this address provides some insight into Obama’s character and how he ranks his priorities.

The Month in Peace.
Islam. The “Religion of Peace”.
I’ve taken the time to compile just a few peaceful moments from the onslaught of happenings around the world each day so that you can enjoy a moment of the calm that must surely lie deep in the hearts of the most devout Muslims.
You can thank me later.
10/1 in Somalia; Islamists shell a vegetable market, killing civilians.
10/2 in Russia, Muslim gunmen kill a police officer in a drive-by while in Afghanistan, Taliban extremists attack a group of trucks, killing drivers.
10/3 in Pakistan, a group of Hindu men are abducted and murdered while a woman is beheaded in Iraq. Not to be outdone in Afghanistan, a peaceful Muslim masqueraded as a local soldier and murdered two American servicemen in their sleep.
10/4 a series of Jihad truck bombings killed drivers in Iraq while a woman was murdered in an “honor killing” not far away. In India, peaceful Muslim cops kill a Hindu boy for marrying a Muslim girl.
10/5 a 10-year-old boy is taken out by a bomb hidden in a garbage can in Iraq while just down the road, a half-dozen funeral mourners are blown to bits by a suicide bomber. Shortly after the funeral bombing, the tortured body of a Christian businessman is discovered after having been kidnapped by peaceful Muslim members.
10/6 in Afghanistan, a peaceful rocket aimed at a passenger bus, kills riders while a similar peaceful bus-bomb in Iraq explodes, too.
10/7 in Thailand, four civilians are killed in separate peaceful bombings while back in Afghanistan, bombers peacefully slay 4 cops.
10/8 in Kabul, Afghanistan, a suicide bomber detonates outside the Indian embassy, ending the lives of seventeen innocents while a similar peaceful explosion outside a shop in Iraq killed several shoppers.
10/9 in Somalia there were several peaceful shootouts resulting in many infidel deaths while hundreds are injured or burned to death from a suicide car bomber in a shopping plaza.
10/10 in Pakistan Muslims peacefully stormed a security headquarters, killing six officers in the siege taking a few hostages.
10/11 a hospital in Iraq is bombed while in Thailand a man drinking tea in a tea shop is gunned down in the name of peace…as was a cattle rancher in Thailand.
10/12 in the town of Abu Khamis, Iraq, the mayor was peacefully targeted, but they missed and took out his two sons.
10/13 in Iraq, an ambassador of peace detonates himself in a cafe, killing other patrons while another emissary in Afghanistan kills some American soldiers in the name of Allah (the god of peace?)
10/14 in Pakistan, a car peacefully plows into a crowd killing a dozen people when it blows up.
10/15 in Pakistan again, a little kid about 6 years old is blown apart by a remote-controlled car bomb along a city street.
10/16 in Iraq, a suicide bomber at a yell's 'Allah Akbar', then opens up with a machine-gun before detonating, leaving at least fifteen dead in the peaceful massacre.
10/17 in Somalia, a policeman is gunned down in an Islamist drive-by while a roadside bomb in Iraq killed members of a security detail.
10/18 in Iran, a peaceful demonstrator detonates in a gymnasium, slaughtering more than 50 people.
10/19 in Somalia a Christian woman is peacefully murdered inside her home for refusing to wear a veil.
10/20 in Pakistan, two suicide bombers attack a women's university peacefully blowing up several students and faculty.
10/21 over in the Philippines, a bomb is peacefully planted near a water pipe which kills an inspector.
10/22 in Somalia, peaceful Islamists mortar an airport, killing several.
10/23 in Iraq, more peaceful Islamists bomb a family in their vehicle, killing them.
10/24 in Pakistan, a bomb peacefully detonates on a minibus killing people in a wedding party.
10/25 in Iraq, car bombs take out a couple hundred people standing near or in government buildings. The dead include a bunch of kids at a day care center. It was a good day for peace.
10/26 in Thailand, dedicated peaceful Muslims gun down two Buddhist civilians looking for food.
10/27 in Pakistan, they attacked a police post, peacefully killing some cops.
10/28 in Afghanistan, there was a peaceful attack when Muslims peacefully forced their way into a UN guesthouse, murdering nine people, including six international workers…while here at home police are investigating the assault of a Detroit News photographer outside a mosque whose leader was killed during a shootout with FBI agents Wednesday. He’d told an informant if the FBI came to get him: "I'll just strap a bomb on and blow up everybody."
10/29 A New York woman allegedly tried to slit her husband's throat because she said he wasn't the devout Muslim she thought she married five months ago. He was making her do horrible non-peaceful things (like eating pork, wearing short clothing and makeup…)
Today (10/30), I haven’t skimmed international news yet…but the day is young. I’m sure peace will break out in several places before long.

I'm gonna need you to step over here...
Earlier tonight I went to the grocery store and the spousal unit decided to come along. While we were there, it started pouring down rain and was still raining when we were finished and ready to leave. We exited the store and were in a little foyer area that's the entrance/exit between two sets of double automatic doors. The mister said since it was raining, he'd go run out and get the van and bring it up to the door. Nice.
So while I'm waiting, a kindly older lady with a pink umbrella struck up a conversation with me and told me she was waiting for the rain to lighten up so she could "make a break for it" (which might have been worth sticking around to see...)
Anyhow...
I'm standing their making small talk with her and as always, I'm sort of conscious that my gun is on my hip and just give a tug on my cover shirt discreetly to make sure no fabric is hung up on the grip making me print.
She starts telling me that it always seems to rain on fair weekend (and today was the last day of our fair)...she stopped mid-sentence and got really wide eyed looking just past my shoulder.
That's when I heard: "I'm gonna need you to step over here..."
I froze for a second and fifty things went through my head in every direction.
Then I heard "Right now. Step over here, please" and a tap on my shoulder.
Holy Crap.
After reading conversations about people being put on the ground by cops until they're satisfied they've sorted out whatever problem they think they're encountering...I was worried!
I turned my head to see...and a rent-a-cop (who just bumped my shoulder) said "Sorry, Ma'am." and turned back to a group of 20-something-year-olds and said, "Gentlemen, right now, over there. Move."
That's when the hubster pulled up to the door and I couldn't stick around to find out what all the hub-bub was about...and kinda didn't really want to!
So anyhow...that was my mild coronary of the year.
Next coronary: MiniMe drives. :p

Are they fricken KIDDING ME???
So there's a chick that lives about half an hour away who was looking to get her hands on a Kimber Ultra Carry II, just to try it for herself and see if she wanted to pursue looking for one to buy. I told her if she could meet me at a range that I'm a member of, she was welcomed to try my 1911.
She and her hubby showed up.
Upon showing my Kimber to a her, two men inserted themselves into the conversation. They are both board members of that range and they are also both NRA certified instructors.
The first came over and started saying a few things that made me wonder if he was for or against Kimber. I really couldn’t tell at first. The second guy definitely was steering this gal away from thinking of a Kimber and even though aversion to recoil was mentioned, he started pointing her toward thinking about a lighter weighted smaller framed 9mm!
After the girl and her hubby left, the first guy said, "Man, I sure hope I talked her out of a Kimber!"
I said, "Why??"
He said, "Because 1911s are too complicated for women to shoot."
And the other guy said, "No woman should carry a semi auto. I always steer them to revolvers because they are idiot proof."
After a quick mental inventory to verify, I confirmed to myself that I was indeed a member of the gender in question.
O.M.effin' G! I wanted to inflict immeasurable pain with a Taco Bell spork.
Anyhow, I sent an "I'm sorry about those two guys" to the people who wanted to check out the Kimber before buying one and I told them that the only opinion that counts is hers and if she’s comfortable with the feel/fit and comfortable with the push (recoil) of the .45 then that’s the only thing worth listening to.
You can’t tell other people what shoes will fit them best, they have to try them out and walk around in them to see for themselves. We’re all different.
Chicks, you don’t need a revolver because it’s “idiot proof” and 1911 styles are not "too complicated for women".
Guys, please tell your chicks that^.

Six senators (R) voted against sending Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the full senate. Each voicing their concerns about her speeches and articles of law review...So much for blind justice in the future.
And now, 60 seconds of "want to stab my eye out with a Taco Bell spork"

TICKED!!
Background:
We have a couple of different family members who are each having July weddings.
Instead of buying a gift, we bought each of them a Visa card that can be used anywhere like a regular credit/debit card (vs a WalMart card that can be used only at WalMart).
I can't activate it...or more like I won't. It cost me fifty-six bucks each to buy the cards and load $50 on each... but when I called the 800 number (and also tried the online activation) they expect me to give them all sorts of information that I'm not willing to do! Like my fricken social security number!! I kid you NOT.
It's like buying flowers for someone and being required to write down your SSN on the card before sending them or giving them! What is up with THAT??
Don't believe it? Here's the screen shot (note that I only got from page one - entering the number on the card and the activation number on my receipt...to page two where I would not give any of that private information!)
There are FIVE pages of personal questions in total!
WTF?!!?? (click to make the pic bigger)
