The Body Snatchers

Everyone who's anyone knows I prefer metal guns over plastic.
Everyone who's anyone knows I prefer .45ACP over 9mm.
Everyone who's anyone knows I prefer single action over double action/striker fired.
Everyone who's anyone knows I prefer on-body carry vs purse-carry.

That being said...
Here's my new concealing purse, housing my 9mm striker fired full sized M&P.

Things are not always as they seem.

Mr.Jet took the day off because I had the day off...
He took me to lunch and then we just bummed around Ft.Wayne.
One of the things we like to do is hit the thrift stores. He likes looking through the books and junk and I just kind of wander around until something catches my eye that I didn't know I couldn't live without.

I never look through stuff like purses and such... because I don't carry one.
However...

Something caught my eye that gave me a good idea.
I saw this neat purse that had a roomy interior, big expandable side pockets, a zipper pouch inside, and lots of divided sections sewn into the inside walls.

Upon seeing this, most chicks might think "Zippered pouch = keys/wallet/phone security at the mall."
CLOSE. It's "keys/wallet/phone security at the range."

They might think; "expandable side pockets for sunglasses, camera, novel, gloves..."
No.
It's "expandable pockets for electronic earmuffs, shooting glasses, stapler, 1st aide kit, PatchWorm."

They might say; "inside divided sections for pens, paper, nail files, hair barrettes, chewing gum"
No.
It's "inside divided sections for magazines, small ammo boxes, speed loaders, chewing gum."

Now you might think this set me back a pretty penny...
but it just so happened that we landed there on some kind of "everything is half off" day.

My coolio impromptu chick range bag...
cost a whole dollar.

The Death of the Mighty Balloon

OK, so we met out there and I put down some tarps to catch the .45 & .380 brass.
I set up my little oak table that I lug out there because there's NOTHING to set stuff on but the ground...
We started cutting off the balloons from the ice, and... it started to snow!

We tossed them all at the foot of the berm and then put a dozen or so clays all over, too.
We shot her Bersa .380, her Springfield .45, my 22A, and my Remmy 870.

The shotgun just chipped and cracked the ice. The rest of them blasted them to smithereens. Even the lowly .22!

Here's before pics:

Here's a pic after a 20ga hit:

Here's an after:

We didn't think to get out her SKS until after everything was gone...
except her coffee cup from the gas station.
So we set it up on the hill in a little snow pocket and took turns being mad because neither one of us could hit it.
After we emptied on it, we ran down to see what the heck...
Then we found this:

Are they fricken KIDDING ME???

So there's a chick that lives about half an hour away who was looking to get her hands on a Kimber Ultra Carry II, just to try it for herself and see if she wanted to pursue looking for one to buy. I told her if she could meet me at a range that I'm a member of, she was welcomed to try my 1911.
She and her hubby showed up.
Upon showing my Kimber to a her, two men inserted themselves into the conversation. They are both board members of that range and they are also both NRA certified instructors.

The first came over and started saying a few things that made me wonder if he was for or against Kimber. I really couldn’t tell at first. The second guy definitely was steering this gal away from thinking of a Kimber and even though aversion to recoil was mentioned, he started pointing her toward thinking about a lighter weighted smaller framed 9mm!

After the girl and her hubby left, the first guy said, "Man, I sure hope I talked her out of a Kimber!"
I said, "Why??"
He said, "Because 1911s are too complicated for women to shoot."
And the other guy said, "No woman should carry a semi auto. I always steer them to revolvers because they are idiot proof."

After a quick mental inventory to verify, I confirmed to myself that I was indeed a member of the gender in question.

O.M.effin' G! I wanted to inflict immeasurable pain with a Taco Bell spork.
Anyhow, I sent an "I'm sorry about those two guys" to the people who wanted to check out the Kimber before buying one and I told them that the only opinion that counts is hers and if she’s comfortable with the feel/fit and comfortable with the push (recoil) of the .45 then that’s the only thing worth listening to.

You can’t tell other people what shoes will fit them best, they have to try them out and walk around in them to see for themselves. We’re all different.

Chicks, you don’t need a revolver because it’s “idiot proof” and 1911 styles are not "too complicated for women".

Guys, please tell your chicks that^.

Why Does Sarah Tick Off the Feminists?

Madam Vice President!

Has a nice ring to it doesn't it? With John McCain's smart move to pick a woman to run on his ticket, he's effectively blown Obama out of the water. Today was supposed to be the democratic hopeful's first official campaign day and I'm sure he thought he'd be reveling in the praise and worship of the press after his acceptance speech last night.
Then BAM, McCain plays the Sarah Barracuda card and steals his fricken thunder! YEAH!!
She's smart, funny witty, a lifetime NRA member, and top it all off she's a former Miss Alaska. The whole country is turned on.

Wives Club

I’ve never really searched out anything about the wives of any political male candidate, but this one sort of fell into my lap.
There’s much being bounced around about Michelle Obama’s blatant racist attitude and we all now know her feelings about her husband wanting to run a country that she doesn’t even like. Not to mention the whining and foot stomping about how hard it is to pay back college loans… What a gracious first lady she’d make.
But this entry isn’t about ObamaMama.
It’s about Cindy McCain.

Here’s a little background:
In B.Obama’s speech in Berlin a couple days ago he said,
“Now the world will watch and remember what we do here – what we do with this moment. Will we extend our hand to the people in the forgotten corners of this world who yearn for lives marked by dignity and opportunity; by security and justice?
Will we lift the child in Bangladesh from poverty…?” It goes on.

Talking the talk.
Well, Mrs.McCain has walked the walk.

In 1991 Cindy McCain was visiting Mother Teresa's orphanage in Bangladesh when a dying infant was thrust into her hands. The orphanage couldn't provide the medical care needed to save her life, so Mrs. McCain brought the baby home to America with her. She was met at the airport by her husband, who asked what all this was about.
Mrs. McCain replied that the child desperately needed surgery and years of rehabilitation. "I hope she can stay with us," she told her husband. Mr. McCain agreed. Today that child is their teenage daughter Bridget.

There was a second infant Mrs. McCain brought back. She ended up being adopted by a young McCain aide and his wife.
"We were called at midnight by Cindy," Wes Gullett remembers, and "five days later we met our new daughter Nicki at the L.A. airport wearing the only clothing Cindy could find on the trip back, a 7-Up T-shirt she bought in the Bangkok airport." Today, Nicki is a high school sophomore. Mr. Gullett told me, "I never saw a hospital bill" for her care.

Cindy McCain. Classy act.
My two cents.

Hypocrisy. I haz it.

I’ve previously grumbled, complained, whinged, and ranted about how women are dismissed from total conversations regarding guns or shooting sports in several occurrences. I’ve told the tales of gun shows when I’ve asked the vendor a question, only to have him turn and give the answer to any man who happened to be standing nearest to me. I’ve opined my contempt for unjust dealings at store counters when all I’ve wanted to do was look at a gun and was made to feel invisible.
You’d think I’d have learned how to treat people by drawing from my own experiences.

I went into a store looking for these. I’ve seen them online in several places but the store where I went isn’t going to carry them at all anymore. And here’s how I found out two things.
1) They are phasing out most of their firearm related products.
2) I am a hypocrite.

I was browsing in the section where those shot holders would most likely be…in with the slings and gun socks and such.
I stood there for probably about five minutes looking through a jumble of vests and gloves and shoulder pads for recoil, thinking that I was probably close to where I’d find them if they could be had.
Once I felt like I’d exhausted where to look, I decided to just go inquire about them because I had a couple other questions about some other things I saw.
I walked through the aisle to the counter where the ammunition is locked up and there were two workers standing outside the locked area…just talking.
They both looked up at the same time with that questioning “can I help you?” expression on their faces. After a quick glance from one face to the other, my mouth overloaded my brain and as if I was on some sort of hypocritical autopilot, I directly faced the guy instead of the girl and specifically addressed my questions to him. I so suck.
While the male worker went to look exactly where I’d already been standing, I realized what I’d done.
I looked around for the female worker because I was going to say something about it, but I didn’t see her after that.
Maybe she didn’t know the answers to my questions, but maybe she did…and at any rate I’ve choked on my own critical words because I didn’t give her the chance.

Girly Sports

When I was a kid growing up in a rural area, it was expected that you were in some way connected to the ranching culture. When I say “rural”, I mean sometimes on the way to school our bus would be caught up in the middle of a cattle transfer from lot to lot. There were times that we were an hour late due to having to wait for the cowboys to get the cattle from one pasture to another via crossing the road where we needed to travel.
I don’t think I knew many kids that didn’t ride horses or participate in some sort of event with them. There were parades, 4-H, saddle clubs, and my favorite; rodeos.
People generally associate horsemanship and competition with masculinity, but did you know that barrel racing and pole bending were created as women’s sports and are generally kept that way today?
Pole bending is really fun, but I happen to suck at it. It’s a competition of speed and agility where there are six poles in a straight line about 20 feet apart. The rider and horse duo leave the start line and race in a straight line alongside the poles to the last one. Upon reaching the last one, they curve sharply around it and then weave in and out through all of them heading back toward the start line. When they reach the final pole, they curve around that one and head back through the poles weaving in and out away from the start line again. When they get back to that initial pole they started with, they curve around it and then race back in a straight line along side the poles until they get back to the start line again. If they knock a pole over it’s a five second penalty for each one. This is why I wasn’t good at it. Horrible in fact.

No, that pic isn't me.
Barrel racing is another story. In that type of competition, there are three barrels set up in a triangle with the “top” of the triangle being centered furthest away from you at the start line. You start out as fast as you can and head toward the barrel on your right making an outside turn around it. Then you cut across the middle toward the second barrel as if you were making a figure 8 in the middle between them and circle that barrel. You then head for that “top of the triangle” barrel making an outside turn and then a straight down the middle run towards where you started from. Hitting a barrel is a five second penalty with this sport, too. I didn’t seem to have the same problem with this one though. I ribboned in this competition.
No, that pic isn't me either.
Sometimes I wish we lived in a setting that would allow MiniMe to have a shot at doing stuff like that on a regular basis. And sometimes I’m glad we don’t.

The “F” Word

I think a lot of people (men AND women) confuse human rights or “women’s rights” with feminism. I’m all for women being able to choose their own life path for themselves, but when a group of people (female or not) try to speak for me, I draw the line. What about *my* rights? Isn’t that what they are saying I should have? What about *my* freedom to choose for myself and speak up about my choices?
"Feminism" seems no longer to be about equal opportunities or equal pay for women. That was settled a long time ago. Today it has been tightly linked to radical politics, hatred of men, and deconstruction of the traditional family.

That's Ashley Judd up there, if you didn't know.
Anyhow, I feel sorry for the women who have found out the truth too late. For instance, read an excerpt of what Virginia Haussegger wrote:

Here we are, supposedly “having it all” as we edge 40; excellent education; good qualifications; great jobs; fast-moving careers; good incomes; and many of us own the trendy little inner-city pad we live in. It’s a nice caffe-latte kind of life, really.
But the truth is - for me at least - the career is no longer a challenge, the lifestyle trappings are joyless (the latest Collette Dinnigan frock looks pretty silly on a near-40-year-old), and the point of it all seems, well, pointless.
I am childless and I am angry. Angry that I was so foolish to take the word of my feminist mothers as gospel. Angry that I was daft enough to believe female fulfilment came with a leather briefcase.
It was wrong. It was crap.

In the feminist’s mind, any submission to a man is demeaning. Obedience to a husband is thought of as a form of brute force imposed by monsters.
They don’t understand that women are very influential over men. Look what Delilah did to Samson. And what about Adam? He had is own mind, but he followed Eve. This influence women effortlessly hold is a type of astounding power. Some misuse it, some don't know they have it. It holds an intoxicating sway.
A man’s happiness and success can be directly influenced by his woman. She is the gas in the engine. He is the engine. An engine without gas is dead.
That said, I suppose I must be a confusing individual to those who don’t know me. I like sports (football in particular). I’m drawn to machinery like jets and fast cars. I’ve worked for the government building bomb seeking devices from blueprints and had immense fun doing so. I love to shoot…handguns, rifles, shotguns… It’s a rare occasion that puts me in a skirt or dress, and if it’s cold and windy I’m pretty sure that serious coin would have to be involved as well.

BUT...
I like a door being opened for me. I like help picking up packages I’ve lost a grip on and dropped. I like being guided into a room by a hand on the small of my back. I love a chair being pulled out for me. I find it intimate and cozy to have a dinner ordered for me… not because I’m incapable - but because he understands me so well, he knows I’ll really enjoy whatever he chooses because he appreciates me enough to pay attention to my likes and dislikes. I’m fond of these things and too many more to mention, but the bottom line is that feminism in its form today seems very wrong to me. It’s a push for the opposite of family and a road to lonely Nowheresville. How about instead of “feminists” telling us what they think we need and what’s best for us, we each get to decide for ourselves. I choose individuality and privacy with regard to it.
