More Sunday Statues
My aunt came for dinner last night and afterward we drove to a city where other statues like these were on loan again.
I didn't take pictures of many...

But decided goofiness was in definite order!
So we had some fun with it...

And for those of you who did NOT believe me when I said that I walked up behind a cop writing a ticket...a grabbed his sidearm without so much as a flinch from him...
Suck it! :-D

Sunday Drive
On his way to work and back every day, the hubster passes a neat old bridge that used to be part of train tracks years ago. He usually doesn't lug his camera around, so he decided we should go for a drive and while he drove, I'd snap pics.
He's right, it IS a neat old bridge!

We decided to get off the main road and just take in some of the scenery.
There's not much I don't like about fields. Some people don't like living in flat lands, but I really like all the seasons of the flat fields. When they're plowed, when they're planted, when stuff is growing...right up through watching harvest.

Even the irrigation catches my eye.

Random clumps of trees...don't you just love that?

Clouds over farmland; now who can resist that?

One of the best things about a nice day is seeing all the bikers out.
Who doesn't like that?

Bet he was on his way to go looking at some barns.
OK, maybe not. But I like them.

Holy Moly!! There was an accident! A pickup truck ran right off the road and into a deep ditch, slamming head first into a tree!
Traffic was stopped and an ambulance whisked someone away. We all sat there waiting on a tow truck to pull the pickup out of the ditch.
If you click on the pic to make it bigger, you can see the tail gate way down on the right.

It took awhile, but they finally hauled it up and out.

Then the wrecker hauled it away.

Wow. That was something. I hope the driver was OK.
Random tree, random wildflower:

Hope you enjoyed the drive.
:)

Bragging in the 21st Century
When my daughter was born, my mom (who lives over a thousand miles away) immediately bought a brag book to fill it with baby pictures. I pity the person who sits next to her on a plane because all it takes is a whiff of interest or the word "grandkid" and she whips out that portable photo album like a ninja with a shuriken. Even now; almost 16 years later.
She often has company in her house, and by "often" I mean just about every day and sometimes people stay for days/weeks/months as they just can't turn away a person in need.
She doesn't have a ton of space on her walls for photos, but what she does have, she likes to keep current and show off her only granddaughter.
Enter: my brilliant idea for her birthday gift.
We got her this digital photo frame:

There's almost nothing to using it, which is great because she's not really into learning a bunch of techie stuff.
All you do is pop in your SD card and it will show everything on it however you decide to view it. You can have groups of thumbnails, you can zoom, you can set it to stay on one photo, or you can create a slide show...and you can do all of this from a little remote control that's about the size of an iPod Nano.
You can transfer stuff directly from your pc, if you'd like...but I'm keeping it as simple as I can to tell her how to use it so she doesn't get frustrated with it.
...And that would be: Take the card out of your camera, pop it into the side of the frame, and click "auto play" on the remote control.
I think she's gonna like it!

Best Fall EVER
I took a little road trip to another town and found my new favorite store. I bought twice as much ammo for half the price that I did yesterday...awesome.
Anyhow, this fall has lasted longer and is prettier than any I remember since I moved back to Indiana over 20 years ago.
I'm not a great photographer by any stretch of imagination, so forgive the out of focus crookity frames.
Just enjoy the road trip!:D

I love the lines in the fields after harvest. Something about it solidifies the end of the season and gives a big nod to winter on the way.

Usually, there are always ducks or geese in these little wetlands. They've mostly all gone south now.

I just want to toss out a blanket and have a picnic here:

Is that a Christmas tree in the window already? Holy moly!!
OK, I’ll leave it to you to decide how I took all the pictures...and why they're all crooked and blurry...

Are you kidding me??
Let’s see what the run down is:
• ACORN voter fraud
• Bailout and financial crisis
• DOW nose dives
• Recession and unemployment
• Two socialists running for president
• Lack of loyalty to the Constitution
• My rights chipped away in the name of the Patriot Act
I could go on and on and on.
But what is the important news buzz as of late?
Sarah Palin’s pores, wrinkles, and peach-fuzz-facial-hair.
No kidding.
There is a general upset and near pandemonium over an unretouched Newsweek cover.
We are living in the fricken Onion.

Light Painting
~
Photography has always interested me and I'm in awe of people who can make a whole story known by a single photo. There's definitely a skill involved that I don't possess, but would love to.
One form of photography is "Light Painting" which involves capturing the art that light can create without capturing the light source. There are a few ways that you can succeed, but I've only been able to half-way capture it.
There are lots of pics on the net of extraordinary captures, but here's a very simple one.

Here's one that I tried; Meh...not so cool!! But I think it's neat anyway.
This is a street in my town:

Here's my favorite net find:

Now THIS is truly amazing...holy moly!
