OK, this is not really a post about the state fair, because I hate the jostle and bustle of pushy crowds so much, we didn't go. But MiniMe is there today with a bus load of kids doing their band thang on the field.
Since we had a kidless day, we decided to spend the day making up plans as we went. The only thing I wanted to do for sure was to go shooting.
I had a little ammo, but not much, so the first order of the day was to go find more.
Wal-Mart= NONE
Dunham's Sports = NONE
Rural King had some. I knew for sure I was getting one bulk pack (of 525), but maybe...just possibly...two if I begged. When I called ahead, the guy said they had 8 or 10 boxes. When we got there, they had five. The hubster said "Take all they have"...so I did! (Sure didn't have to ask me twice!)
Then we drove to Ft.Wayne and had lunch at my favorite restaurant, but they were out of my favorite thing. No matter, it was still great.
Then we drove to a co-op where I usually get one of these awesome muffins. Their name always reminds me of my net friend Road Warrior from the Women & Guns site.
I'm telling you, these things are so yummy! Bonus points for being topped with roasted espresso beans!!

I also picked up a couple bars of my favorite smelly soap. OMG, this stuff smells so good! I'm not a big fan of wearing perfume, but I do like scented soap. Sometimes people think I'm wearing lightly scented perfume, but it's this soap:

MiniMe needed us to stop at a music store and pick up a couple screws for the ligature on her clarinet. The screws keep snapping off.
This thumb screw costs $2.00

A ligature takes two of them:

(They hold the reed in place on the mouthpiece)

The whole ligature with two screws was $2.95. Uh...OK, we took two ligatures.
When we got back to the house, I grabbed my shootin' stuff which was already ready to go. We got to the range and set up, and it started to rain. Bummer. I kept shooting anyhow until my glasses were such a smeary mess I couldn't. Plus, I didn't like the idea of my gun or box of ammo getting wet.
I ran through five mags (10 rounds each)

The hubster ran through 40 rounds. He wasn't aiming for the stickers, he was just aiming for the plate. Poor guy is re-learning how to shoot and doing it left-handed. He's not a southpaw, but it turns out that he is left eye dominant. You can train your hands what to do, but you can't train which eye you'd like to be your dominant one.

When we got home, I was setting up the little oak table that I use for cleaning guns and he came in with a UPS box. Guess what was inside! I no longer have to use a crappy camera! He bought me this without saying so and it came today!

My namesake muffins! :) What is the name of the place and in what city? We are driving down to Indy in a couple of weeks to pick up a puppy. Breakfast will be on the road.
Our county fair starts this weekend and I stay away as well. Too bad for others, it is pouring and suppose to all weekend.
A puppy!? AWESOME!!
I guess I don't know where you're at if you have to drive "down" to get to Indy...you might be closer than I thought!
That place is on the corner of Sherman and Spring in Ft.Wayne.
Here's their page:
Three Rivers Co-Op
If you think you'll be near there, shoot me an email and I'm about a half hour (or so) away.
Muffin and a coffee? :-)
P.S. that email is JetGirlRocks at yahoo.
P.S.S. I'm gonna demand puppy updates...WITH PICS
