Amazing Woman

At the age of 92, she passed away leaving $2.8 million to 11 nonprofit groups. Touching the lives of thousands of people, Blanche Vavra never spent a penny on herself for anything but bare necessities. She was a private quiet person who never married and had no children.
I bet in all her plain frugality she was a sparkling person to be around. Here’s a quote from the article about her:
“Vavra loved to get dressed up, remake jewelry and always looked very dashing.
She probably had a cigar box full of jewelry and the whole thing wasn't worth a dollar," Jerry Dobesh said. "But she wore it well.”

Chop Chop!

Every 16 – 18 months I get a haircut. I don’t wait that long because I’m a slacker, that’s just a bonus. I donate a ponytail usually about 13-15 inches long to Locks of Love.
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides prosthetic hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss.
Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure and quite a large number is from the treatments for different types of cancer. The prostheses they provide for kids helps to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.
Donated hair has to be at least 10 inches from tip to tip.
It can’t have been bleached (permed or colored is ok) and it has to be secured in a ponytail or braid by an elastic band.
