How Are These Things Connected?
~~UPDATED~~

I'm going to fill the balloons with colored water and put them out on the deck to freeze this weekend.
On Monday, I'll cut the balloon off the ice.
ShooterChickFriend and I will set them in the snow on the berm...
and blastinate them to smithereens!
Shick-shick...BOOM!! No clean up. :)
Rest well, my little colored water friends. Sleep the sleep of the just.
For the day after tomorrow...you DIE!!

Score and Change
~
SCORE
I've been kicking around the idea of participating in a few online matches just for fun and bragging rights. Now that I have a few different rifles to pick from, it would be more fun. There's the semi-auto Marlin 60 with open sights, the bolt action CZ 452 Lux with iron sights, and the scoped bolt action Savage Mark II. Since making the purchase of those sand bags, I'd have the option of shooting from rests or the rare offhand game as well. I've also got the capability of printing off the official match targets and now there's a store that carries the right stock of paper to do it on.
Problem: I don't have a gauge to score the target, nor do I know how to.
But thanks to Joe Haller from RimfireCentral.com, I'll be figuring it out pretty quickly once I get my gauge in the mail.
CHANGE
I needed to obtain a money order to drop in the mail today to Mr. Haller, so I went to a store to get one. The total came to $6.46 and since I decided I didn't want a bunch of change and one dollar bills back, I opted to give the cashier a $10 bill, a $1 bill, and fifty cents. This way, I'd get back a $5 and four pennies.
(I'm sure you might see where this is headed)
She looked at the money for a second and started to hand the $1 bill back. I said, "No, please take it out of $11.50 so I can have a $5 bill back."
She said, "It's only $6.46, this is too much money."
Me: "Yes, I know that...but when you ring it up out of this, I'll get $5.04 back. I don't want a bunch of ones and change."
Her: "It's not going to work that way because you gave me fifty cents, too."
Me: "I know. The forty-six cents will come out of the fifty. The six dollars will come out of the eleven. I'll get a five back. Please just key it in your register."
Her: (looks at me like I'm growing an extra nose or eye)"*sigh*, OK, but it's messed up."
She rang it up and guess what! My change was $5.04. She frowned all wrinkly foreheaded at the register like it malfunctioned and then shook her head and shrugged her shoulders.
Hardest fiver I've ever gotten back in change. Ever.

And Speaking of "Games"...
2:34.
Two minutes and thirty-four of the most boring seconds on the net.
But when I was 9 or 10 years old, this was major excitement!
Like the 4th of July on crack.
It wouldn't be long after this time that the industry would boom with this sort of stuff...
and I would be Queen of Centipede and Ruler of all that was Pac-Manian.
No power in the 'verse could stop me!
Except running out of quarters. And...well...curfew. :p

Trap Action!!
WOW!!
Five hours of So Much Fun!!
I loved shooting trap!! It took me awhile to get the hang of it because it’s vastly different than plinking with a rifle. I’m pretty sure that I was told at least a dozen times to stop aiming and trying to sight it like a target, but man that’s a hard thing to break!!
My first attempt was a practice round of 25 at 16 yards. I got 5 out of 25. But near the end I was figuring it out. It was an incredibly windy day, and there was much said about that from the veteran shooters. I figured it would probably be good to learn the hard way first, then from here on out it would be easier. The very first one I hit, I hit square on and that thing shattered to smithereens! What a rush! The guy who was instructing me picked up the empty shell and hung on to it, and then gave it to me at the end of the practice. I felt kind of bad that I was keeping him from shooting, but he said he was glad to skip it to help a new shooter and that’s what it was all about. I thanked him for letting me use his gun (a Beretta 12 gauge) and he told me that it was a gun that his son had won many championships with before he died, and that his son would be happy that someone was learning trap with it. Wow, talk about “paying it forward”…
Then on to the serious rounds… 2 rounds of 25 at 19 yards. My final score was 31 out of 50 which must not have been too shabby. I won two prizes; a cleaning kit and a pair of purplish shooter glasses that make orange clays stand out from green tree background.
It was a really good time and I plan on doing it more often!
JL took me for pizza after, and I’m pretty sure he’s proud of my first attempt. He took pictures the whole time, so here are a few:
Here’s me and my instructor Max on the far right. Max is the one without a ponytail.

This is during my shot, I’m just past the guy wearing shorts and Max is behind me:

This was after a rotation that put me in the middle. Max is checking to see how I’m leading the shot. That little kid in blue was the one pushing the button when we called “pull”.

My least favorite part was hearing “LOSS!!” when I missed. It got to the point that I could tell as soon as I squeezed the trigger whether or not that clay was gonna break.
My shoulder is kind of bruised and my cheek might be, too…but that’s a bragging right!
And it feels great!

Just a couple more hours!
Today is the first annual trap shoot at the Conservation Club.
I’ve never tried it before but people keep telling me how much fun it is, so I really want to!
There will be an International "style" shoot, with prizes and possibly a "Lewis" Class. There will be no handicaps for the regular shoot since it will be in international style. There will also be games such as "bushwacker" and I have no clue what ANY of that means, but I can’t wait to find out!
The two sentences (from the email I received) that really made up my mind about going were:
"Beginners - even if you've never fired a shotgun - are welcome!"
And:
"We will have NRA certified instructors and loaner equipment available."
I’ll update this entry after the event! Woohoo~!

POP!! SPLAT!! WooHoooo!!
MiniMe and I inflated a bunch of balloons and filled a bunch more with water. We took them outside and set them free in the back yard and then got out the airsoft pistols & safety glasses and went totally S.W.A.T. on them! Holy Moly was that a ton of fun!
We were soooo "Charlie's Angels" (original - but minus Cheryl Ladd).
*note to self
When balloons don’t pop, the BBs ricochet toward you. In essence, balloons shoot back!
*second note to self
Neighbors are nosey when your privacy fence conceals what’s going on and all they probably hear is “shoot it before it gets away!! Shoot it now! Shoot it now!!”
