Sorry. Really.

Every time I put up a new post lately, the spammers have been hitting my comments with 10-15 in the first six or seven minutes. I hate not getting to them quickly and thinking that some unsuspecting reader might click on one and pick up some fresh nasties on their pc... soooo..
*sigh*
As much as it pains me to do so (because I thoroughly dislike it when others have done it), I'm turning on the captcha function to deter some of the auto-spam hits.
I figure not that many people comment anyway, and if you have something super important to say, a few extra seconds to type gibberish in a box is worth the effort to be heard over credit report phishing, loans, and medicine links.
Again...sorry.

I bought those male enhancement pills and sent money to that crown prince in Gabon because I thought they were friends of yours.

Crap.

If only I'd known...

Huh. I have very few problems even without captcha - I get an email every time I get a comment at LITGM so am pretty up on it.

Occasionally an old post will get hit but I just close comments on that post and the problem goes away. I guess you are special.

Yeah, Dan...unfortunately it's sometimes "short bus" special :p

I have email alerts too, and last night after posting the Ga/Fl entry, I got pop up after pop up that I was getting spammed. Sometimes two or three comments at once. I just figured it was time to crunch them. I'll probably turn it back off at some point, but for now I'm tired of cleaning up bot poop.
