Moron from Muncie
A man surrendered Thursday to face allegations that he forced his 7-year-old daughter to kill the family cat by holding a knife in her hand and making her stab the feline.
Yep...you read that right.
Daniel J. Collins, 39, was taken to the Delaware County Jail, where he was being held on one count each of animal cruelty and battery and two counts of neglect of a dependent.
Yep...you read that right, too. Misdemeanor charges..
An affidavit filed Thursday in Delaware County alleges Collins told his 11-year-old son and daughter he wanted them to "learn how to kill" and ordered them to kill the family's pet cat.
Yep...you read that right, too. He wants his kids to "learn how to kill".
Detective Jami Brown of the Muncie Police Department said the killing of the 8-month-old cat, named Boots, was particularly troubling because Collins allegedly tried to force his children to kill the animal.
No, what's "particularly troubling" is the fact that crap like that doesn't go down out of the blue. I guarantee there's been weirdness leading up to it..
"I've never seen one like this before," Brown said.
I don't doubt it..
The siblings told police their father was drunk when they were dropped off for a visit at his Muncie residence, according to the affidavit. They said he is "a different person" when he's drunk.
Nope. Sorry. No dice. Alcohol doesn't make you do things you normally would not. It only lowers your inhibitions..
Brown said that when Collins was in the bathroom, the boy took the knife his father had given him to kill the cat and hid the animal under a sofa bed. The boy then ran to the kitchen and put ketchup on the knife to make it look as if the cat had been killed.
That poor kid..
When Collins realized the cat was not dead, Brown said, he forced his daughter to hold the knife and then held her hand tightly as he drove the knife into the animal.
What the story doesn't mention: her begging and pleading for the cat's life..
The girl said he held her hand so hard that her hand ached, an injury that led to the battery charge.
Poor little thing was probably trying to twist away for all she's worth..
After the cat was stabbed, the girl said her father stabbed the cat himself and strangled it, the affidavit states.
The piece of info left out: then he tossed the bloody dead kitty to the 11 year old boy and ordered him to go stuff it in the trash can..
Brown said the children's grandparents have custody of them.
Clearly grandma and grandpa dropped the ball. You can't 'not know' when someone is that deranged - alcoholic or not..
