The Shoot
Shot a couple things that I hadn't before, including an AK47. Nice.
Afterward, a few of us had a quick bite at a diner near the interstate ramp and I zipped home in time for kick-off.
I wish the Colts had won, but it was still a good game. I held out hope til the end, but the Saints just had more heart for it. So congrats, Who Dats, on your big Super Bowl win.
Mardi Gras this year will be the show of all shows.

Football? What's a football??

Football Widow in a whole different way...
I'm the one who likes it in my family. I'm the ONLY one. You can't have a good holiday without a good game. For those of you who roll your eyes and hate it...you should at least know appropriate comments to make....in order to not look lame.
Ok, here are some good phrases to fake if you need to fit in...
"oooooooh" - whenever a shot is taken at the goal, no matter how close. (If especially close, a short round of clapping is permissible)
"Bad call, Ref!!!" - if your players are fouled
[silence] - if your players foul the other team's
"PENALTY!" - if one of your players falls anywhere near the opponents' goal
"Run, baby! RUN!!!" - when one of your players is heading goal-wards with the ball
"Unlucky" - when said player is effortlessly dispossessed by a 230 pound defender.
HOWEVER...
if you really want to understand a little:
Here's a little quick reference to what's going on:
Basic rules are that 11 players must be on the field for one team at a time. Someone going in for another player means that other player has to hustle OFF the field fast or it’s a penalty for too many men on the field. There has to be 7 men on the scrimmage line (the imaginary line where the ball is placed after a play...a team can't cross it until the next play starts) for offense and they all have to be set and motionless for at least one second before the ball is snapped. If someone moves, it’s a false start or depending on what they’re doing; an illegal motion penalty. The offense has 25 seconds to call a play.
The offense has four downs (four plays) to try to move the ball 10 yards. If the offensive team advances the ball at least 10 yards in four tries or fewer, it receives another set of four downs. If the offense has failed to advance 10 yards after three tries, the team usually punts the ball on the fourth down (to the other team). The other team then begins with its own set of four downs, traveling toward their own goal. The phrase "three and out." means that a team has failed to advance the ball 10 yards on its first set of downs and is forced to kick to turn over possession to the other team.
Most of the terms in ref calls are self explanatory, but some are not (like in last night’s Colts/Charger game when there was a “touchback”). A touchback is when the ball crosses into the end zone and it’s not in control of the team which put it into play. Whichever team is awarded the touchback gets possession of the ball on their own 20 yard line. Then the downs start over for them.

YEAH!!!
The NFL has awarded Super Bowl XLVI to Indianapolis, which will open a new stadium for the Colts this August.
Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis is expected to seat about 73,000 for a Super Bowl. The game is scheduled to be played February 5, 2012 after the 2011 season.

17 Seasons
The Packers' general manager Ted Thompson said, “"He has had one of the greatest careers in the history of the National Football League, and he is able to walk away from the game on his own terms - not many players are able to do that,".
Last season, Favre broke Dan Marino's career records for most touchdown passes and most yards passing and John Elway's record for most career victories by a starting quarterback.
He retires with 5,377 career completions in 8,758 attempts for 61,655 yards, 442 touchdowns and 288 interceptions.
I’ll miss seeing him in that familiar #4 green, and I think right about now John Madden needs a hug.

Giants FTW!
Updated again!!
(to post a totally swiped pic that I could watch over, and over, and over...)
Scroll to the bottom of this post to see the big Brady SACKED! :D)
What a nail-biter game!! And what a poopyhead the Patriots coach is.
All I want to say is, "hey coach, got A SEC?" (get it? Got a sec, because of the last ONE second of...oh nevermind).
Anyhoo, good game!
And a couple reminders:
1) You DON'T have a perfect season if you don't win the Superbowl. Pats status? FAIL!
2) Cheaters never win. (insert raspberry noise here).
I just have to say it! I don't know what made me more giddy:
* the "perfect season" becoming the "NOT so perfect"
* CryBabyBrady stomping off the field with time on the clock and the fans rushing in
* SoreLoserCheater Coach clearing a field for a ONE second play
*Back to back Manning Quarterbacks winning consecutive SuperBowls.
Who am I kidding? OF COURSE it's the back to back Manning QB SB wins!
MANNING - FTW!! :D

The Big Bet
The Chargers then advanced on to play the Pats and I was really hoping that they’d be able to pull just one more trick out of their hat.
That being said, here’s how it went down…

Some guy on the net;

Football? What's a Football?!!?

This is as close as it’s ever gotten. The Colts are first place at 9-2 (reigning as champs five times), and the Jaguars are only one game behind them.
If Jacksonville loses, they also lose their shot at the division title because they lost to the Colts 29-7 at home back in October.
It will be a tough game because they always give us a run for the money, and they are currently third in the season with an awesome amount of rushing yards per game. After Thanksgiving's 31-13 win over the Falcons, the Colts have had a little extra time off. We’ll see how that factors in with all the injuries they’ve played with this season.
As for the rest of December 2nd’s Game Day….
It’s ON beeyotches!!

The Way It's Done.
The Colts hosted the first NFL kickoff weekend against the N.O. Saints.First they unveiled the Super Bowl Banner. Then they showed us why they have it!
The first half was tight with the Saints taking a short lived lead, but my Colts tied up the score 10-10 going into half time with a 33-yard field goal by kicker Adam Vinatieri!
The Saints did not score ONE offensive touchdown. Their lone touchdown came on a 55-yard fumble return by CB Jason David
In the second half, RB Joseph Addai capped a 71-yard, eight-play drive with a 2-yard run to give the Colts a 17-10 lead. QB Manning threw his second touchdown pass of the game to Wayne for a 24-10 Colts lead.
Wayne’s second touchdown of the game came early in the fourth quarter and gave Indianapolis a 34-10 lead with a 48-yard deep pass from the man Manning. Just like in every closed practice!
Dominant defense polished off this work of beauty with a final score of Colts 41, New Orleans Saints 10. Welcome to Indy, NFL! This is how we do it in our house!
