Bullet Diameter Can Bite Your Butt.

Took the new batch of reloads to the range Saturday and they wouldn’t let the Rock go full battery.
At first I was sweating it because I thought I’d done something wrong when making them, but I followed my previous notes to the letter…so I didn’t know what it could be!
Then we tested them by sending them through Jay’s mag in his Kimber. They were fine.
Then my mag in Jay’s gun…still fine.
They also fed through my own Kimber in function check without a hitch.
We took them back to his house and pulled out the calipers and micrometer.
Using the barrel as a gauge, we discovered that the cases would not even seat, because the bullet was too big.
The ones that flew through just fine were .451.
The ones that would not let it go to full battery were .452.
It’s chambered really tight.
Pics:

A reload with a .452 bullet…not even close;

*UPDATE*

Sent the barrel to Armscor Precision Advanced Tactical (RIA) and they rechambered it not-so-tightly.
It eats everything like a champ now, just like the Kimber.
Great customer service, excellent communication, and FAST turn around time...
11 days total from the mail drop to having it back in my hands.

hmmm , I normally use the chamber end for the gage. The bullets should be tight slip fit to a bit over sized at the muzzle from my experience. To really check the bore to bullet fit- swage soft lead(fishing sinker) for a bore sized(Tight)lap on the end of a 3/8" dowel rod/cleaning rod. Lightly lube the bullet with sizing lube and lap through bore once, chamber to muzzle in as even push and with out stops as possible. Measure lands and grooves on the lead lap - this will give min and max bore dimensions. I think the .451 size is a best bet personally.
