A Practice Session

The newbie is really getting the hang of things. We spent a lot of time going over safety, grip, safety, stance, safety, breathing, safety...you get the idea.

This was just his second time shooting and not only did he keep shots on the 10" expensive targets, near the end of the session, they were more often than not hitting the general area he was aiming for, and the follow up shots were sticking really close together.

His wife came along this time and I kept asking if she'd like to shoot, but she really didn't want to do anything except watch. Too bad...because the secret is that women shooters tend to do better than men. If she tried it and ended up smokin' him right off the bat (which is highly likely), he'd NEVER live it down.
And I don't mean from her...I'm the one who wouldn't let that go! LOL

Anyhow, here's the product of today's paper plinking.
I sure wouldn't have volunteered to be behind either of those plates.
Would you?

1911.
She and her hubby showed up.
Upon showing my Kimber to a her, two men inserted themselves into the conversation. They are both board members of that range and they are also both NRA certified instructors.

The first came over and started saying a few things that made me wonder if he was for or against Kimber. I really couldn’t tell at first. The second guy definitely was steering this gal away from thinking of a Kimber and even though aversion to recoil was mentioned, he started pointing her toward thinking about a lighter weighted smaller framed 9mm!

After the girl and her hubby left, the first guy said, "Man, I sure hope I talked her out of a Kimber!"
I said, "Why??"
He said, "Because 1911s are too complicated for women to shoot."
And the other guy said, "No woman should carry a semi auto. I always steer them to revolvers because they are idiot proof."Gender motivated insult,No excuse for that are yours either,His wife came along this time and I kept asking if she'd like to shoot, but she really didn't want to do anything except watch. Firstly; my search function works! AWESOME!!

Secondly; for crap's sake, would it physically hurt to be anything other than "anonymous" if you have something to say to me?

Thirdly; "Gender motivated insult"
Um...no, it's not. Go ask any instructor. Go read any co-ed board. Go to any mixed class. Go ask any dude that took his wife/daughter/mother/sister shooting to show them how to do it.

Lastly; "No excuse for that are[sic] yours either"
My blog, my prerogative. Deal with it. If you don't like my opinions, you're racist.

I'm so racist, I'm libertarian.

As Libertarians, we seek a world of liberty; a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values for the benefit of others.

We believe that respect for individual rights is the essential precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud must be banished from human relationships, and that only through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized.

Consequently, we defend each person's right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest, and welcome the diversity that freedom brings. The world we seek to build is one where individuals are free to follow their own dreams in their own ways, without interference from government or any authoritarian power.
This is rights that allow women or men to be champions at there chosen endevor.

You know, that's almost good enough to be the National Platform of the Libertarian Party... oh wait...

I used to belong to a club that I used for their rifle range.

But they also had sporting clays and the best Trap and Skeet stations for a hundred miles around.

One day I watched a 17 year old girl kick the living hell out of a bunch of old trap shooters with $1500.00 scatterguns at trap shooting.
Women are definitely capable of being good shots.

Don't worry anonymouslastshot, I have another chance at it coming up on the 14th. I'm taking NewbieNephew to a "real" range (with R.O.s and everything) and wifey wants to come along. So here's hoping!!
Maybe Jay (my coach) can charm her into trying it.
