Dan, I promised myself I'd never desecrate my Kimber by doing any crap like that to it...but I gotta tell you, it REALLY makes a difference (for *me* anyway! YMMV).
Ryan, Learn from my mistake! Don't get a 3" barrel...no conversion kits fit a barrel that short - not even Kimber's own. Get one a little longer and pony up for the conversion kit...practice cheap, carry big - same gun so all your muscle memory and grip style is already there.
I've thought about trying the skateboard tape since reading about Agent Starling's .45 in 'Hannibal'. My biggest worry (aside from finding it when I lived in a VERY small town in NC) was that it would chafe badly with any recoil. Now I'll actually have to go and TRY it...
(exasperated sigh) Another day at the range. Oh, the sacrifices I make...
B.Smith, It only enhances your grip. It's not like what you might think. I have some extra if you can't find it...email me with a ship addy and I'll send it to you so you don't have to pay for a great big sheet. jetgirlrocks at yahoo.
Thanx kindly for the offer! Due to family circumstances, I'm back in Cincinnati now. Plenty of skaters here, no worries :-) What I really need is some pro-work on my 1911. I missed a chance at a near-new Springfield XD45 recently---$400, I've been kicking myself for days. Big brother has one, and loves it dearly. For now, I'll try the tape on my Makarov, I guess. :-/

Nice! Funny, before I read the post I looked at the photo and said to myself, what the hell is that on the grip? Skateboard tape eh? Whatever works.

Drool...Kimber. Someday if I'm really good I'm going to get one I swear. My gun budget is nil right now I spent it all earlier this year.

Not sure about the tape but I really like the holster dye job. I have one like it for under the waist and will do the same.
