Although I never acquired the need to have beer frequently, I do on occasion like to toss one back. Sometimes two, but two is my limit.
Generally, I gravitate to lighter beers. I’m fond of Corona Extra if I can have the bottle salted and a lime wedge in the neck. I used to be a fan of Heineken, but as my taste changed it seemed to have a bitter after taste. The occasional Moosehead faired much the same. Dark ales and stouts are too heady for me and extra yeasty beer ends up making me sneeze.
Most of the time, the beer in our house was the really cheap stuff. Usually PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon). That got a lot of play because there were always guys “dropping in” to have a beer with Dad. Before Dad stopped drinking, it was always my job to watch the road for him when it was about time for him to come home from work and meet him at the back door with a cold beer while my mom hastily put dinner on the table.
Needless to say, I’m no stranger to beer. However, I am a stranger to some brands.
At the suggestion of a net friend, I decided to sample a type that I’d never tried before.
It’s a little darker than I’m used to, but not so much that it’s bitter. It’s not too heady for me, but it definitely is heavier than the norm for me. It’s smoother than I figured, being that it isn’t a lighter ale. I find it having a zippy aftertaste that leans a little sweeter. Almost like the molassesy scent in the hopps.
This one gets the thumbs up. I’ll definitely buy it again.
I'll probably have the next one watching the Indy 500 tomorrow, because I'm a heathen and I drink beer on Sunday.
