Yeah, that title isn't a typo...I just have a lame-o sense of humor.
My regular readers (all two of them :p )know I like my pea shooters. Here's what's going down;
A net acquaintance contacted me yesterday and said that he just approached one of our local TV stations about an interview they did with a member of the Brady Center, without airing the other side of the issue. He's offered to put three of their staff thru the NRA pistol basic safety and personal protection class for free if they're interested. If they take him up on it, he wants to know if I'd be interested in co-teaching/assisting because at least one of them will be female.
Here's one of my problems: I've only ever shot at a "range" in my town while being the only one there. Literally. They hand me keys to lock up and I turn on/off lights, settle up my own bill in the cash box behind the counter...the whole deal. I've NEVER been to a range with an R.O. (range officer) and I've never learned any of the range commands because of that. This guy operates probably one of the biggest ranges in my state. I've seen google-earth pictures and I swear it's the size of half my town.
I'm extremely apprehensive about all of it; The *real* range factor, the news crew people, TV, you name it.
I really have to think it over. I'm SO NOT qualified! I absolutely don't want to be a reason that they'd get goofy footage to air the "cons", or flub up anything for them to spin in a bad light.
So on one hand I'd love to help, but on the other hand I'd be ever so much the Gomer Pyle of the range...know what I'm sayin'?
Well, guh-huhh-lly! and Shazam.
Anyhoo, some of the advice that I've been getting is to make sure to run through things with him first and also to let him put me through a few paces of the range commands first until we get the procedures smooth and efficient between us.
That is another tough spot. His range is hours away in GOOD weather (which we haven't had in quite awhile, and may not for many weeks yet). Add to that the fam and their concern over "stranger danger" and all. Completely understandable.
There are probably other issues that I haven't even thought of yet, to scare me off.

Sounds like an opportunity for some personal growth.
I didn't even look at it that way.
You're probably right.
Hi, Annie
This gentleman is willing to put his personal and professional reputation on the line. He is going to be quite picky as to who he wants covering his back. Consider yourself honored and show yourself worthy of his trust.
