No matter what zone you're in

...Time won't slow down.
Over the last few years, my very good friend Shar and I have had such different schedules and hectic family stuff we just haven’t seemed to be able to meet in the middle to visit.
There was a stretch of years that JL worked a different shift and the only time we ever really saw each other or got to spend time together was on the weekends.
Shar had four young boys and for a time she was on her own with them while trying to juggle different jobs and kids’ schedules, too. I used to watch her youngest boys whenever she needed a hand or take them places when she just needed a break. When you spend that kind of time with another family, they become intertwined in your heart.
At some point, her family got pulled back together, JL started working a normal shift and in the blink of an eye years silently slipped past.
Chance brought us to the same place with both our families in tow. I wanted to prolong that tiny little fraction of time and I decided to use money that I’d been saving for something else and invite everyone out for lunch in the city where we were instead.
The kids are so grown up now and the “catching up” was amazing. My heart ached for missing it all when it happened. I’m going to make it a point to keep the connection going because time goes so fast… you don’t know you’re missing it until you look over your shoulder at where you’ve been.
In a breath you can step from piano lessons and soccer games into college applications and wedding plans. In a blink, it's gone. And you miss it.

Holy cow! Are you trying to make me cry????!!!! There's a song by Alan Jackson that's similiar in "message" to it...I think it's called "Remember When". Oh boy, tear jerker! :|

Oh so true, what you said. Time goes by so quickly, and you see your kids grow up and the people in your lives grow older and older, etc. Definitely never take any moment for granted. Thanks for the reminder! :)

I don't think I've heard of that song. I'll go look, though.
Yeah, time has a way of speeding up when we get older too.
Don't blink.

What a great song!!! Its so true!Life goes so fast!!! It reminds me of when my son was a few weeks old. One night he was up all night crying, he was changed and fed but just was crying I was so overwhelmed that I started cying too! At that moment I wan't him to go back to sleep and just be quiet but looking back now I think I miss it!!!I love him more and more each day, but I definalty miss the times when he was so small and needed me for everything! Now he just wants to do everything himself. I guess that is part of growing up! For both of us!:)
