Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to converse with a former member of the OSI (Office of Special Investigations). Throughout the course of a conversation, I told him about some of the pictures I’d taken at an Air Force museum. I have a compilation of photographs representing various tools of the espionage trade. Not having had any pictures of most of the objects he used, he asked if I’d share the ones I had. I told him I would trade pictures for a bona fide spy story. He held up his end of the bargain, and as an afterthought I thought the pics would be a neat blog entry. As far as the genuine spy story; you don’t have authorized clearance and it’s totally classJetfied information. As for the pictures:
This jacket had all sorts of compartments and secret “identity” tabs that could be revealed to fellow operatives to disclose your OSI identity. They were permanently pulled out and pinned in place for this display purpose:
This is a group of listening and filming devices, I tried to get clearer pictures of each, but inside the cases, the lights kept changing color and brightness and made my shutter freak out.
This is a camera and a working lighter that was also a camera.
This is a bug hidden in wood trim.
Here’s a radio transmitter that looks like a watch.
Here’s an umbrella with a hidden microphone.
Here’s a bug inside an ordinary wall outlet. The walls could indeed have ears!
Here’s an identification pin and badge.
Here’s a disguise kit.
Here are a couple of ID cards.
Here’s a key mold making kit.
Here’s a group of lock picking tools and a hollow coin for transporting secret code.
And a close up of that hollow coin (but blurry).
