AirSoft Revisited

So when I can't get to the range to shoot (but I still have the urge), I turn to the AirSofts for comfort.
Just as a reminder, this is how it went down:

During the yucky cold months when I was itching to get to the range, but work/weather/whatever prohibited it, I devised a plan to get it out of my system and also to try to get the fam hooked on it as well (just don't tell them the ulterior motive!).

I drew a pic of what I envisioned as a BB trap for indoors. I wanted the functionality of a trap, yet something that wasn't an eyesore. Since I've long collected birdhouses, I decided one along that theme wouldn't look out of place in the abode.

The spousal unit framed it up:

And when it was all put together, the basic idea was evident. Completely solid on all sides except the place where my target would be affixed:

I picked out the tools of my destruction (i.e. paint) and tried not to stray too far from color schemes that would give this huge box chameleon qualities in my personal space:

Primer and a couple good base coats were the first steps:

I made sure the dimensions would give it a good fit to sit in a space between the dresser and a phone stand when not in use. The "hole" must be realistic because a few people have asked me if I use it by trying to shoot the pellets into the hole. Ha!
The spousal unit and the MiniMe really liked the vines:

Here we are at the finish line with a fresh target on the opened side and a good 20 feet stretch to shoot. Those little suckers are pretty accurate!

This is how it looks when it's not being shot at! LOL

You might be asking "now what does that crazy lady shoot with inside her house?"
Well...
Take your pick!

Kickass Annie - I invested in a pellet gun, Baikal IZH-46 and a pellet trap...my pellet trap is just black steel, not all girly like yours. But you are right, it serves a need when you can't get to the range. When time is scarce, it helps me out a lot. I have almost acquired my NRA Expert ranking, but I still have a ways to go.

Thanks!
For the compliment...AND for breaking in the comments!
Good luck on your quest for "Expert"!

I love it! Functional and covert. No mall ninja is going to buy it, but no one would look there for your indoor range.

Nice work, Annie!

As usual Annie, your choice of color pallet astounds me.

Hey Annie,

Really like the birdhouse/target. What ingenuity. Don't know if my wife would let me do such a thing though. Especially since the step-son and his friends would try to take it over and they wouldn't be as careful.

Don, I hope that "astounds" was in a *good* way! :p

Bass_singer, Yeah, those little BBs can do a lot of damage...even though they are hollow plastic.
I have a few MiniJet dents in the drywall...but since I have a faux finish on the wall, it's not noticeable. Only she & I know where they are.
